I finally got to see the loominayshuns

After weeks and weeks of pester power GO and I finally got to go and see the Blackpool Illuminations.  We have both been watching the news (me at home him at the garage, long story) and had seen the piece about a light festival opening at the weekend.

We decided to set off mid afternoon, which meant that after we had found somewhere to eat it would be nice and dark.  Perfect conditions for a light display.

It was wonderful, we took a tour of Blackpool town centre and saw lots of unusual light displays.  Yoko Ono had a few exhibition pieces dotted around including one that was a pyramid of crystals.  In the crypt of The SacredHeart Church was a light covered coffin.

We saw a ballet projected onto the side of the Tower building.  We followed the trail through the town, to the winter gardens, to the train station and to not very salubrious parts of town.  It was great, not quite what I had expected but as a lover of all things twinkly and light, I had a wonderful time.

And to top it all of GO drove us home through the loominayshuns.
