More throw back photos

Cyprus -  1980 something
I do love a good rummage around in my mamilein's drawers ( i know how that sounds!). We both love to watch old home movies and flick through the albums, reminiscing about how small and cute my brother used to be (he is huge now over 7 foot tall, and the cuteness, let's just say we  have agreed to disagree on that one!).
Over Easter I decided to take some photos of some photos (as you do), its so much quicker than scanning, the quality isn't great but you get the jist.

Baby Brother - Potty Training (he's still not quite thre yet!), bless him

This his "Feed me!" face

If your name's not down you are not coming in!

I was my mamilein's doll

Sorry Papichen I invented that lip!

Too cool for Pre-School

I was so ahead of time fashion wise, young, single mother!

I am the boss in this picture.  Yes I am flashing!

Easter in Deutschland

Frohe Ostern

People always say that German's invented Christmas, the sights, sounds and smells of a Weihnachts markt are so evocative.  Everybody knows that the Christmas Tree was a German invention (Prince Albert gave one to Queen Victoria).  I also think that Germany has to be given credit for totally embracing the Easter festival.

In one supermarket alone I found Easter themed rolls, biscuits, cakes, chocolate (that's a given), and salami!
I also found non Easter related POP CORN flavoured tic tac's, they really do taste like popcorn, not sure why you would wan them though?
Bunny rabbit shaped bread carrying a real boiled egg in it's basket.
Pappichen with the Easter salami
I love these things they are scrummy, chocolate covered marshmallows, mmmmh.
Mamilein with her Eastery tipple, Ei likor
Pappichen and I had the sniffles, so we decided to burn the biggers out with Jaegermeister - best night sleep in a long time!
My now Facebook famous Easter socks.

Our Second Anniversary

When you start to look back at the previous year, you realise exactly how much you have achieved.  I decided to make a chalkboard of our second year as man and wife to celebrate us.

Here's to year 3, I wonder what will appear on that chalkboard.  Love you more than words can say GO, you are my best friend and everyday I am thankful that I have you in my life and by my side.

1000 miles in Buende

To make the most of the break in the rain, and to check out the damage caused by hurricane Nicholas that had ripped through Northern Germany, mum and I decided to go for a walk around the fields.  I knew I could tick off another 2.2 miles on the 1000 mile challenge.
Mmamilein has been suffering with her knee recently, she is having an Osteo-arthritis flare up, and she couldn't walk far, so she decided to cycle alongside me.
We saw many trees that had been uprooted and lakes that only the day before had been fields.
It was nice to get out into the fresh air, especially as I have been suffering with a horrible cold that has settled firmly on my chest.
So many routes to take, in the end we just did a quick out and back up to the stork nest.
The river had burst it's bank, the water was receeding.
Mum made the most of the Cyclist rest spots as she waited for me to catch up.
My walking partner didn't hang around.

You can just spot the stork nest.

1000 Miles 2015 Challenge

After reading about 1000 miles challenge in the walker magazine, I decided to give it ago.  It sounded easy, 1000 miles, but when I actually started to think about it, it's not as easy as I first thought.

I have been tracking my walks using photos and the "mapmywalk" website.  Which has enabled me to track my total.

Some Photos of my walks

Driving home for Easter

The drive from Oxford to Buende can take about twelve hours from door to door (that's not long some of you may say).
Look at Little Miss Grumps in the back
Sometimes it flies by and sometimes it can be such a s d--r--a--g.  It all depends on the weather (I hate the snow and rain), the conditions (traffic jams when you don't understand the road signs are a nightmare) and the people you are travelling with (driving alone is fun for the first and last ten minutes the rest of the time it is so lonely, and can be dangerous if your mind starts to wander).
On the Eurotunnel, about to travel under the channel
This trip had to have been the funniest trip ever, because as mamilein's has a very poorly knee, which often needs to be stretched, she sat in the back seat with her new addiction and didn't want to share any.
We are in France - but only for half and hour
So for most of the journey I was able to film her sneakily eating the crisps when she thought no one was looking.  It made a long journey a lot of fun.  I was crying with laughter most of the time, but I suppose as is always true in this life, you had to be there to appreciate the humour.
Bonjour
We tried to break up this journey with a stop in Herenthals, to visit our old houses.  It was nice to reminisce, but it was such a quick pit stop that it was a case of blink and you'll miss it.

Arriving in Belgium - only for about an hour

Massive Belgian Bunnies - sadly not Chocolate

Stop off to reminisce

We lived in that house when I was little

For the love of a Ginger One
