Now that we’ve settled into the new house the hand over prep on the Derby Street begins. There was a lot of confusion about when we could hand the property back but finally we had a date and had to get it ready for the estate agents to take photos. So we went back in and set the stage.

Getting Settled in the Gingerbread Haus
I have been told by numerous people that I am entitled to a “moving in” day so I took one, it was the first day I had on my own in the house an my first chance to try to get things sorted. It’s starting to look and feel like home. I am sure we will change things, I already know that I want lighter coloured curtains downstairs.

Moving day
Well the day I have been dreading has arrived. It’s moving day GO has asked a mate to help (that is two moves now where I haven’t had to lift and shift the heavy stuff) but what I am most dreading is driving the huge van with the lift at the back. We prepared by taking apart the G-Plan wardrobes, what we thought would be a quick job took us four hours. At least it’s ready to be shifted.
I’d love to say this is all of our stuff but we have been taking things backwards and forwards from and to the new house for weeks.
This is our first load headed for the rubbish tip, that place has become like a second home for us.
Taking a break, I can’t wait until we are all in and settled. We have lots of plans for this place but first we need to get things in. It’ll be nice to have a garage one day...
We hired a “big” van to move all of our stuff, I got the neighbours to all move their cars as I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to manoeuvre the thing. Turns out what I should have been concerned about was the hill down to the new house. As we are at the end of a cul-de-sac you have to turn around to get out and I didn’t have room for that. So I had to reverse down the hill, it was bum squeaking time.
This is my “yay! I did it!” face.
It was so scary and I was alone as GO and his mate were in the car.
Mattresses and sofa cushions plus giant wardrobes all fit in one trip. What a relief to drop the van back, we were so quick the car rental guy didn’t charge us for fuel. I was scared about finding a petrol station that would fit the truck. We are in now, let’s get settled and order a pizza.

Welcome to the world
Welcome to the world little lady, you are so lucky to have the parents you have and before you know it you will have travelled the world and had more life experiences than most people could dream of. You join the world at a crucial time and we will look back on this time as a turning point for society. Enough of the heavy stuff, you are a gorgeous little thing I am expecting great things of you little one, in terms of mischief making that is.

Happy 48th Anniversary
“We’re going out for a meal to celebrate!” Mamilein said when I asked how they were going to mark this special occasion. I snorted because I knew the truth and sure enough they’re sat at home eating pie and chips watching Money For Nothing. Well as they say, whatever floats your boat.

We bought a car
As we now no longer live in Todmorden GO’s commute to work has become slightly trickier. While he could use public transport for his later shifts for his early shifts he would be stuck. So after a lot of chatting we decided that we needed to buy a second car. GO did a lot of searching and found a reasonably priced car in Mansfield. We went to pick it up and it I love it. It’s so sleek and luxurious with its heated seats, and space station like console. It has all the mod cons and while it’s not my car it will become the family car.

Skipton
We were supposed to go to Newcastle to watch another Blackburn match but as Biglilbro wasn’t feeling well he decided that he wanted to go somewhere close by. He had also mentioned that he wanted to see a castle.
“So change of plan. Decided don’t want to go to the match today. I am not feeling too good (cold), I know I bought tickets but we can watch the match on TV. Also we would have not got back till 10pm at the earliest, then I would have had to do a video which would have moved by bed time past 1am. So not the best moves with the early start. So today, is wide open. If possible would a weatherspoons breakfast be on the cards? Not sure when they stop. After that we need to find a shop that sells quavers. Pretty felixble as to what to do. Love you”
So we decided to pay Skipton a visit, we stopped at spoons for breakfast so everyone was nicely full for a wander around the castle and town. We had definitely reached saturation point and patience was being tested but we managed to see everything that everyone wanted to.

Home Tour
We took Lilbigbro LB) and USsinlaw (UL) to see the new house in the daylight. I have so many ideas that I’m struggling to focus on the essential jobs. Our first job is to replace the boiler G.O has done a bit of research and has decided that the Hive boiler system from British Gas, while expensive it is connected to the Alexa voice control system when it is up and running we will be able to use our Alexa to turn the heating on and off. Until then I can control the heat from my phone, oh the power.
One with the tour, photos courtesy of USsinlaw, as I was so busy I forgot to take some.
The house is a detached house in Lancashire, with four bedrooms and three baths.
I am slightly overwhelmed by home ownership but can’t wait to get my hands on the place.
The decor is worn ninties but nothing seems to be urgently replaced apart from the boiler. Which the previous owner told us about.
The house is decorated with magnolia in most rooms. The floors are laminate with the exception of the stairs, landing and guest rooms which have a badly soiled carpet. Which we were going to replace but have instead found a company that will clean them for £50.
The bathroom has been painted which some shiny grey paint, and the bath has some scratches (to my untrained eye it looks like a dog has been washed in the bath and scratched up the enamel).
The previous owners had left the whole bedroom set, I’ve decided to keep it and move it to the guest room, we will replace the mattress, but it all seems quite nice.
The exterior need some TLC and the rockery needs some serious attention that is my plan for spring, once I have raided Pinterest for ideas.
