Healthy Breakfast

I'm making my way through my breakfast hotlist, I've had the fry up, scrambled eggs and hagel slag.  It's a bit sunnier today so I decided to have a healthy breakfast (I couldn't be bothered to make anything).

The cat is becoming famous

Cass the cat predicts sports wins.  It's an easy premise, put out two bowls of food next to two flags or team logos and which ever bowl the cat chooses will be the winning team.  That is what my brother has done with his cat.  The first video made me cringe, that's my big sister job.  Then a Local Welsh paper got the video and interviews bro, then BBC Wales got hold of the story and called him in the states to interview him live on air.  Now his local paper has popped round and interviewed the family and take their photo.  In these days of 15minutes of fame being fleeting I'd like to say well done guys and enjoy your moment in the spotlight.

Time for a glass of Cabernet

First week in the house is drawing to a close and what better way to celebrate than trying a new bottle of wine.  This is a Cabernet Carménère, let's give it a go.

Making himself at home

While I literally made the bed (it had over sixty screws) GO spent the evening hooking up the TV (another generous gift from the in laws) so we could watch Saturday Night Takeaway.

Priorities, right?

Happy Third Anniversary

What a year it has been, we have finally moved.  GO quite his job and has now started working for an outdoor activity centre as a lead cook.  It is less pay but we have had so much more time together.  When you look back over your marriage you realise that it is most definitely the memoires and not the money that makes the love stretch and grow.

Breakfast in our new place

We woke up early on Saturday, for the first time in what seemed like ages we didn't have to get up.  We did but we didn't have to.
First meal in our new place, first meal in our new place, what to have???  The usual coffee and peanut butter toast, then I remembered my hagelslag.  Perfect.

We're in!

It was a hard old slog for Finlaw and GO, at any rate, but we are in our new house. As they emptied the storage unit of all our worldly goods, I began the great sort out.  It's been a few days and it's starting to feel like home.  I'm not totally enamoured with the bathroom, it's old and brown, but it's clean, now!  I pulled half a head of human hair from the plug hole, it was foul. I was sick and then had to alternate between cleaning up the hair and vomit.  I scrubbed the place. It's not perfect but at least it's clean.  Bonus we bought a new loo seat so at least our bottoms are the only ones that have sat on it.  The rest of the house was very clean or had been newly painted.  The rooms are very big, we are infamous for being hoarders and we've struggled to fill the house. It is starting to feel like home, I've spent the whole day here on my own today and  it's been lovely to have peace and quiet.

The Pendle Witches

In 1612 the case of the Pendle Witches culminated in four people being hanged for witchcraft in Lancaster castle.  The story goes, so I've been told, that there were two families at war with each other. Both families had lost the head of the household and were run by their matriarchs.  The families were destitute and took to begging in the streets of Colne.  One day one of the young girls was propositioned by a local man, when she refused him he cursed her and started to accuse her of unspeakable things.  Being the hot headed girl that she was, she cursed him and his family.  The man, clutched at this chest and fell to the ground, he was unconscious, when he was revived he was said to be speaking in tongues.  The reality is he probably had some sort of stroke, but in 1912 this was enough to convince the townsfolk that the girl and her family were witches!  The story goes that the twelve witches, form both families and a local lady were marched from Colne to Lancaster over hill and dale for their trial.
